Keeping track of everything in a reef tank can quickly become overwhelming. Water test results, livestock additions, maintenance tasks, feeding schedules—it’s a lot to manage. While I’ve tried using spreadsheets and a few existing apps, I’ve never found one that truly fits the way I work or the kind of data I want to track.
So I decided to build my own.
I’ve started developing a custom iOS app tailored to my aquarium setup. The goal is to make logging data quick and intuitive, while also giving me the flexibility to track what actually matters—without the clutter. At its core, the app will let me:
Record and graph water parameters over time (pH, salinity, nitrate, phosphate, etc.)
Track livestock, including corals, fish, invertebrates, and plants, with photos and notes
Create and manage a custom maintenance schedule
Attach notes and reminders to key events or changes
Because I come from a tech background, it’s a fun side project that scratches the itch of coding something useful while enhancing my tank management. I’m building it using SwiftUI for a clean, modern interface that works across iPhones and iPads.
I plan to add syncing with cloud storage, reminders for dosing and water changes, and maybe even an option to export logs for sharing or backup. It’s still early days, but I’ll share screenshots and features as the app develops.
If you’ve ever wished for a better way to track your reef tank, stay tuned—this app might be just the tool you’ve been looking for.
